Kasba Lift Accident: Injured woman doctor died in nursing home lift break down

A tragic incident took place in the Kasba area of Kolkata, as a woman doctor lost her life and her husband was critically injured due to a broken lift in their nursing home on Monday. The doctor couple, Anirban Mitra and Dr. Chaitali Mitra, owned a nursing home in the town of Rajdanga.

According to reports, the elevator suddenly broke down while descending, resulting in serious injuries to the couple. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where Dr. Chaitali Mitra succumbed to her injuries late at night. Meanwhile, Anirban Mitra's condition remains critical.

The incident has caused a stir in the nursing home, and the police have launched an investigation into the matter. Initially, it was suspected that the lift broke down due to a mechanical fault, but the exact cause of the malfunction is yet to be determined.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the lift fell with a loud noise, drawing the attention of locals who rushed to the spot. The couple had suffered head injuries and were first treated at the nursing home before being admitted to the bypass hospital.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation's Emergency Management Department has also started investigating the incident, and foul play is not being ruled out. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the case of the elevator breakdown.
